Imagine a future where the air is cleaner, roads are quieter, and every vehicle you see runs on electricity. Madhya Pradesh is taking bold steps to turn this dream into reality.

Madhya Pradesh has prepared the way for a green revolution, launching a pioneering electric vehicle (EV) policy that will facilitate sustainable mobility in an affordable manner.

As India’s EV industry continues to flourish, the state’s ambitious plans will not only revolutionise mobility but also make for a greener, healthier future.

A Drive Towards Change

To facilitate rapid EV adoption, the Madhya Pradesh Electric Vehicle Policy 2025 includes comprehensive incentives to reduce ownership costs and improve infrastructure.

The centrepiece of the policy is a 100% tax and registration exemption for new EV purchases – a move that is likely to please eco-savvy consumers.

EV parking is free in the state and every petrol station must provide at least one charging station is just the tip of the iceberg. Through these measures, Madhya Pradesh aims to remove common hurdles like pricing and the lack of access to charge stations, which will make EVs accessible to daily commuters.

Pollution Cess: A Game Changer

Adding to the favorability of EVs, the measure provides for a pollution cess and higher road tax for luxury ICE cars

This double-edged sword not only disincentivizes the buying of a high-emission car, it also redirects effort towards building an EV ecosystem.

Putting ambitious goals in place, the state envisions a dramatic reduction in car registrations by 2030. 41% of new two-wheelers and buses adopt electric, 70% 3 Wheelers. Commercial fleets, too, will be entirely electric by 2030, supporting the state’s ambitions for sustainable urban transport.

Hooking into the Future

The emergence of the Madhya Pradesh Electric Vehicle Promotion Board (MP-EVPB) lends legitimacy to the policy’s implementation. As a nodal body, MP-EVPB will work alongside government departments, companies and civil society to overcome mobility issues and support innovation.

But why does this matter?

Madhya Pradesh’s holistic philosophy is not just about the environment, it’s about economic empowerment. The policy will create thousands of jobs in manufacturing, maintenance, and infrastructure creation in both cities and rural areas.

Green Mobility’s Ripple Effect

The environmental advantages of this initiative are just as persuasive. Through an ambitious effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the state wants to tackle the pressing problem of air pollution. It’s not only the environment that benefits from clean air; it’s the health and well-being of our communities.

Another high point is the state’s investment in reimagining public transportation. All public buses and state vehicles will be electrified by 2028, paving the way for other Indian states.

This shift follows the international trend and puts Madhya Pradesh on the forefront of sustainable city development.

A Vision Worth Celebrating

The EV policy in Madhya Pradesh isn’t just a state policy: it’s the blueprint of India’s green revolution. With a state that goes to great lengths to make EVs mainstream, the state provides a template that can be emulated in other states that wish to do the same.

So here’s the point, we can’t choose sustainability; it’s in the future. This Madhya Pradesh plan for 2030 not only promises cleaner air and more peaceful roads, it also underlines India’s resolve to achieve its UN-determined climate targets.

During the coming years, when the charging stations keep on coming and EVs are running rampant on our roads, Madhya Pradesh may provide an incontestable model for putting policy into practice. In its progressive way, the state is undoubtedly leading India towards a greener future.
