Kilowatt (kW)

A kilowatt (kW) is a unit of power equal to 1,000 watts. It is used to measure the rate at which energy is consumed or produced. For EVs, kW is an important metric for both charging and driving. The power output of a vehicle’s motor is often measured in kilowatts, as is the charging rate of a station. For example, a 50 kW DC fast charger can deliver 50 kilowatts of power per hour, which translates into faster charging times compared to a lower-powered charger.
