Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV)

A Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) generates electricity onboard by combining hydrogen and oxygen in a fuel cell to power an electric motor. Unlike BEVs, which store electricity in batteries, FCEVs produce their own electricity and only emit water vapor as a byproduct. Hydrogen fuel cells can refuel much faster than battery charging, typically taking about 5 minutes to fill a hydrogen tank. However, FCEVs face infrastructure challenges, as hydrogen fueling stations are far less common than electric charging stations.
