Fast charging refers to the ability to charge an EV battery at a higher power rate, typically using a Level 3 DC fast charger. While Level 1 and Level 2 chargers provide AC power at lower speeds, fast chargers use direct current (DC) to bypass the vehicle’s onboard charger and send power directly to the battery. Depending on the charger and the vehicle, fast charging can replenish 80% of the battery’s capacity in around 30 minutes, making it ideal for long trips where quick recharges are necessary.
