DC Fast Charging (DCFC) allows electric vehicles to be charged much faster than standard AC charging by delivering direct current (DC) power directly to the battery. This bypasses the vehicle’s onboard charger, which typically converts AC to DC. DCFC stations can provide up to 350 kW of power, allowing vehicles to gain significant range in as little as 20-30 minutes. However, not all EVs are equipped to handle the highest speeds of DCFC, and frequent use of fast charging can cause more wear on the battery over time.
