In a breakthrough development for EV industry, Lotus Wireless Technologies (LWT) and the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) have unveiled the world’s first commercial scale Fast Charger SST Technology. This next-generation technology – which has already been tested at LWT’s Aganampudi plant – will change the EV charging industry from hours to minutes.

A New Day for EV Charging

Let’s talk about charging an EV as quickly as you fill up your gas tank Fast Charger SST Technology. This solid-state transformer (SST) capable of handling megawatt-size medium voltage inputs can power ultrafast EV chargers that promise convenience and efficacy in the EV revolution.

Friederich Kupzog, Head of Energy at AIT, called this alliance “a synergy between India’s engineering talent and Austria’s creativity,” adding “This win propels world-changing and sustainable energy solutions”.

What Makes SST Technology Revolutionary?

Traditional EV chargers can take hours to fully charge a car. But with Fast Charger SST Technology, this cycle is drastically shortened to provide ultra-fast charging in minutes. Such efficiencies are not only for EVs but also for marine and air-based systems providing an all-around answer to global energy challenges.

“In India, it is the start of medium voltage Solid State Transformer development,” said Dr. Kaushik Basu of the Indian Institute of Science. He stressed the importance of global cooperation to support local development of state-of-the-art technologies.

A Secret to India’s EV Visions

The aim of India is to change the way people travel with EV. Through incentives and measures designed to curb fossil fuel use and air pollution, the state is pushing us all towards sustainability. Fast Charger SST Technology will play an important part in these efforts to make EVs affordable and mass market.

“This product serves the world’s need for a high performance, scalable fast charging solution and aligns with our Make-in-India initiative,” said Binu S Pillai, Director R&D, LWT.

Why Does SST Technology Count Now?

With EVs on the increase globally, it has never been more important to have fast and stable charging networks. Fast Charger SST Technology provides an scalable and fast solution, which helps EV drivers spend less time in charging stations and more time on the road.

This step forward arrives at a very critical moment for India, as EVs adoption will help India be carbon neutral and meet climate targets. Shorter charge times may be the break that triggers hesitant customers into buying EVs.

Global Impact of SST Technology

India’s first entry into Fast Charger SST Technology is also a pivotal part of the world’s energy transition. Leveraging international partnerships and domestic manufacturing capabilities, India is turning into the global leader in renewable energy solutions.

“This technology is a standard for clean energy innovations in the future,” Dr. Basu continued, adding that it can encourage similar development across the globe.

A Promising Step Toward Sustainability

The launch of Fast Charger SST Technology is not just an infrastructural development, it is a sign of India’s enlightened future. By making EVs easier and more accessible, this technology will spur the transition to clean transportation, lowering carbon emissions, and promoting a green energy future.

Lastly, India’s first Fast Charger SST Technology is an innovation which will bring the future of EV charging and clean energy to life. As this technology begins to revolutionise transportation, it also signals India’s ambition to lead the world in radical innovations in energy.
